French-German hydrogen axis

April 11, 2008 at 12:00 is the deadline for project proposals under the French Hydrogen and Fuel Cell program, or as the French call it: Plan d'Action National sur l'Hydrogène et les piles à combustible (PAN-H).

Two things are worth noticing in the call for proposals, also available in English. In the first place there are the subject areas:

  • Subject area 1: Hydrogen production
  • Subject area 2: Hydrogen supply
  • Subject area 3: Fuel cell systems
  • Subject area 4: Cross-disciplinary activities.

Note that the development of hydrogen powered vehicles in not included.

In the second place there is a special subcall devoted to German-French collaboration, in the frame of a pending agreement between the German Federal Ministry of Economy and Technology and its committed project management organisation, Projektträger Jülich. These transnational projects should include at least one industrial partner. Considering the strength of German and French industry, this clearly gives a strong potential for interesting proposals.

One issues remains, though: what is the language of a transnational project. Apparently they could not decide, given the fact that transnational projects should be submitted in English...
