Th!nk officially roadworthy

The full-electric version of the model City, made by Norwegian carmaker Think, has been officially declared road-worthy for all EU countries. This makes it the first electric vehicle to have been awarded such an EU certificate.

The testing was conducted by the Dutch Road Administration (Dienst Wegverkeer or RDW). Later today, Dutch Minister for Transport Camiel Eurlings will hand over the certificate to one of Th!nk's directors.

Automotive, a Dutch automotive magazine, reports a strong initial Dutch demand for the Th!nk City EV. The magazine quotes Patrick Doornbos, director of Dutch Th!nk importer Elmonet (short for Electric Mobility Netherlands): "Around one hundred orders have been placed and there are already ten Think City's on the road. Some of the major lease companies also want to add the car to their portfolios."

Dutch consumers will be able to impress their neighbours for just under EUR 40,000 (GBP 36,000).
