Car of the Future
To speed up availability and demand of clean and efficient vehicles and sustainable fuels, the Ministry of Transport has initiated this interdepartmental innovation programme.
At this moment, the programme encompasses following activities:
- A subsidy for innovative public transport buses, which aims speed up the pace towards making all buses used in Dutch PT sustainable. Six clean bus pilots have been announced on 28 November 2008.
- A subsidy to speed up deployment of filling stations for alternative fuels, such as natural gas, biogas and ethanol.
Upcoming:
- As of the second part of 2009, a subsidy scheme dubbed 'testing grounds for sustainable mobility' will be launched as a part of the Car of the Future programme. The scheme aims to enable real-world testing of battery and hybrid-electric vehicles, as well as driving on hydrogen, biogas and sustainable biofuels.
