European Commission - DG for Transport
The Directorate General for Transport aims at "fostering clean, safe and efficient travel throughout Europe, underpinning the internal market of goods and the right of citizens to travel freely throughout the EU."
DG Transport approaches the challenge of sustainable transportation through various cross-cutting policy areas or themes. For a complete overview, have a look at their website (see link below).
One of the DG's policy areas that is of particular interest to the MindsinMotion.net Community is "Clean urban transport".
Clean urban transport
The European Commission is working to improve citizens' quality of life and strengthen the economy by promoting sustainable urban mobility and increased use of clean and energy efficient vehicles. (...) The objective is to enhance mobility while at the same time reducing congestion, accidents and pollution in European cities. One of the most reknown programmes of the EU to help push these objectives is the CIVITAS initiative.
There are more areas of interest though (intelligent transport systems, sustainable (freight) transportation, et cetera), so do have a look at the DG's website.
