Systemic approach needed for clean, safe and smart transport system
An integrated approach to developing a cleaner, safer and smarter road transport system is needed, according to EU Science and Research Commissioner Janez Potocnik.
CORDIS reports that at the Transport Research Arena conference, under way this week in Ljubljana, Mr. Potocnik stresses that reduction of CO2 emissions to 120 grams per kilometre for new vehicles is not enough to make Europe a true low-carbon economy.
"Building sustainable road transport needs a systemic approach. An approach that links vehicles, infrastructure and users, and that links users with other users", Mr. Potocnik said.
