"Intelligent car technology take-up too slow"
The European Parliament Transport Committee calls on the European Commission to set steps to increase affordability of in-car technologies, as well as to improve consumer awareness about its advantages and availability.
According to the Members of Parliament, efforts for an accelerated uptake of intelligent car technologies should concentrate on:
- Development of the pan-European emergency call system (eCall) which should notify emergency services automatically.
- 100% Availability of Electronic Stability Control for each and every new vehicle sold as of 2012.
- Development of a methodology to measure the impact of Information and Communication technology on greenhouse gas emissions.
