Zaragoza orders three clean buses
The organisers of Expoagua Zaragoza 2008 have ordered three fuel cell hybrid buses to ferry visitors to the water and sustainable development exposition in the Spanish city next summer.
The US$1.7 million order is for three hybrid midi buses, manufactured by Germany-based Hydrogenics Corporation. The buses will be adapted by adding a hybrid power train containing an HyPM fuel cell power module to the standard Technobus Gulliver all-electric midi bus power trains.
The order follows the delivery of three similar midi buses to Düsseldorf and Rome.
"Our standard HyPM-HD power module has proven itself to be very suited for hybrid configurations on an electric shuttle bus platform," said Daryl Wilson, Hydrogenics president and chief executive officer.
The midi bus is able to travel 200 km on one filling of hydrogen, compared to around 60 to 80 km for buses powered by lead acid batteries alone.
