Sweden: 28% 'hybrids' in September
Climate Change Corp caught our eye by stating that "more than 28 per cent of cars sold in Sweden during the month of September were alternative-fuel hybrids."
Somewhat puzzled, we clicked on the source of the article where we read the following:
"Ethanol-petrol hybrid [emph. MiM] and petrol-electric hybrid technologies are now widely accepted on the Swedish market, says Per Carstedt, chairman of BioAlcohol Fuel Foundation (BAFF). These cleaner technologies are significantly reducing fossil fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.
"The Swedish hybrid market is dominated by 24 models of ethanol-petrol hybrids from 11 manufacturers followed by two makes of electric-petrol hybrids. Volvo, Saab, Ford, Volkswagen and Toyota are top sellers with Peugeot and Renault as runner-ups."
Apparently, flex-fuel vehicles are now also called hybrids...in Sweden, that is.
