Dutch hybrid and electric subsidy programme launched

A subsidy programme worth ten million euros to establish the Netherlands as a leading testing ground for hybrid and electric mobility has commenced yesterday.

Light switch on

Power on!

According to a press release by the Netherlands' Ministry for Transport and Public Works, its 'testing ground' subsidy programme is part of the ministry's action plan 'driving on electricity'.

The programme aims to enable large-scale real-life testing in order to gain practical experience at a higher pace. Companies that want to jointly set up a project that includes several electrical vehicles and charging infrastructure can submit their proposals before 23 December 2009.

The total budget of ten million euros will be allocated based on a system of tendering. Projects have to be carried out in the Netherlands, so it's time to dust off those business cards with Dutch names.

More information can be found at the website of SenterNovem (in Dutch), the Dutch national energy agency which has been appointed to carry out the programme.

Comparable programmes are supposedly in the makes for driving on biogas as well as on hydrogen. More on this later.

Of course we at MindsinMotion.net will be keeping an eye on the projects that will eventually win the tender.
