Major public-private initiatives

Biogas West, a project of the Business Region Göteborg, It aims to stimulate market development within biogas production, distribution and the development of the gas-powered vehicle market.

Major national government initiatives

The Swedish Road Administration is the national authority assigned the overall responsibility for the entire road transport system, including its sustainability aspects.

Mistra's (the Swedish Foundation for Strategic Environmental Research) mobility programme's ( TransportMistra) main ambition is to develop strategies, models and tools for making the transport sector head towards sustainability.

International cooperation

	BEST, Bioethanol for Sustainable Transport, is a four-year project, partly funded by the European Union (EU), in which vehicle manufacturers, ten cities/regions (amongst others the Swedish Biofuel Region and the city of Stockholm), five bioethanol producers and four universities cooperate to accelerate the introduction of bioethanol as alternative transport fuel in Europe.
	The Scandinavian Hydrogen Highway Partnership works towards making the Scandinavian Region one of the first regions in Europe where hydrogen is available and used in a network of refuelling stations.
	VINNOVA represents Sweden in ERA-NET TRANSPORT, a network of national transport research programmes in Europe
